Pat (Blair) LaCroix [BLAC49@aol.com] February 2005 Am looking for someone who might have information on the old Newkirk
Cemetery. Both of my paternal great-grandparents are buried there; James
Madison Williams born 4/28/1855 in Madison County, Iowa and died 9/19/1928
at Denoya, Kay County, Oklahoma and Minnie Emmazet (nee Besse) born
10/4/1866 in Appanoose County, Iowa and died 4/5/1931 also at Denoya,
Kay County, Oklahoma. A couple of their children are also buried there,
but it is James & Minnie I am most interested in. Also, their daughter,
Grace Lauver and her husband, Fred (and others of his family) are listed
as being buried there. I came down to Oklahoma last spring looking for
Newkirk cemetery, but was unsuccessful in finding it. Newkirk cemetery is located 2
miles north of Newkirk on Hwy 77, then turn right crossing over Santa
Fe railroad track. I believe that there is a old railroad boarding house
located at the track crossing. [Actually it is the next intersection] Marriage Application database Mrs Minnie Williams dies at Denoya home James M Williams Funeral at Newkirk Online Records – Miscellaneous

| JANE MORRISON WELSH Gene Ewert [gkewert@hit.net] Feb 2004 Would there be someone that might be able to look up and obituary for me? It would be for my great-grandmother, Jane Morrison Welsh. She died in (or near) Blacwell 18 Mar 1923. I would be glad to pay any reasonable research and copy fees and send an SASA if necessary. I'm not sure how long she resided in Kay County. She went there from Marion County, Kansas. A couple of her sons had settled in Kay County during the land run. Sometime after her husband passed away, she must have moved to the Blackwell area to be near her family. I'm not sure why she went to Oklahoma when my grandmother and her family were very near her in Marion County, but that is beyond the reach of this query. Anyway...the sons that lived in Kay County were Robert, John and Albert. Thanks for your help in advance. I did not find any listing for Jane Welsh, However I did find in "Cemetery Inscriptions of Kay County Oklahoma" Compiled by the Pioneer Genealogical Society 1978 Blackwell IOOF Cemetery P120/121 Welsh, John L 12 Mar 1865 – 15
