TATE
Chandra Keith [ckeith@usit.net] July 2008

I just happened upon your wonderful website while looking for information on some relatives of mine, and I was so pleased with what I found. I was able to get obituaries that I needed for two of my cousins, John and Sarah Tate, that were very helpful in organizing my research. I was wondering, though, would there happen to be an index somewhere covering Kay County marriages? I think I have their daughters with the right husbands, but I'm not entirely sure. Would there be something that would give information on who Harriett, Bertha and Lillian married?

Chanda Keith

This is from the Kay Co. marriage listings. The date is when they applied for license.
Harriett (Hattie) Tate / G.P. Glover 3-14-1901
Bertha E. Tate / Howard E. Davis 9-18-1905
Lillian Tate / Walter Siebert 5-27-1907
Hope this will help you more. Thanks for the compliments on the PGS website. It is being updated regularly to hopefully give more people like you help with finding their ancestors.

And yes, the information really was a big help. I'm working on my family tree, and we didn't have any idea until recently about the Tates that went out to Oklahoma, so every bit I can find really helps.

You know, I got curious, & was checking my Kay Co. cemetery book and found John & Sarah listed in the Blackwell Cem. and also someone named Lenora Tate. By the dates of hers I wondered if she could be a daughter. Her dates are Sep 4 1868 Sep 25 1953.

Then I checked the obits you'd found and listed on each of them was a Nora Tate. So am sure this is the same person & she is buried in Blackwell Cem also.

Just a little something else you can add to your information.

Shirley

Yes, she was their oldest child according to the records that I have for them. And thank you so much for checking the cemetery book for me. I didn't know that her full name was Lenora. I had only found her listed as Nora from census entries and the obituaries you found. Are there any more resources at the society that might be of any help, possibly? John had a nephew, John Brooks, the son of his older sister Mary, that was in Kay County in the early 1900s too Chandra

LEE TAYLOR

Lynn Loyd [Email bounced] Feb 2004

I am searching for information on my grandmother, Guynnie (Gwendolyn)Lee Taylor. Her & her siblings were placed in a Catholic Home in the Ponca City Area in the early 20's. Does anyone know the name or location of this home? Also looking for info on her family. Parents were Mary Evaline Vinyard & Henry Labron Taylor. Any help greatly appreciated.

Added to this in September 2005

I was looking at the entry of Lee Taylor looking for info on her Grandmother Gwendolyn. We are family.....her grandmother was my grandfather's sister. My grandfather Harry Kelly Taylor was one of those orphan's. I am his granddaughter.
