The following list is of Post Office, Schools and place names located in Longwood Township, Kay County, Oklahoma. Although every effort has been made to correctly identify and describe all listings on the following maps, errors can occur; sources can have conflicting information. Sources include Chronicles of Oklahoma [OHS], Rooted in the Past Growing for the Future [NCOH], Oklahoma Department of Transportation Maps, court documents of incorporation, Oklahoma Atlas’ and Gazetteers and Kay County Newspapers.

Bain
A Post Office was established May 16, 1899 with Richard F Burnett as Postmaster and discontinued April 30, 1902 with mail to Longwood. A grocery store located 4 miles south and 1 mile east of Uncas on the farm of Dan Bain. Around 1900 one of the two brothers opened another store across from the Longwood store. The brothers took the charter from the Bain Post Office, changed the document and took it to the new store. The operator of the Longwood Post Office, not knowing it was a forgery, turned his Post Office over to the brothers. This Post Office was in operation for about six months when the Federal government caught up with them.

Longwood
A Post Office was established November 2, 1895 with Gus Pellman as postmaster and discontinued September 29, 1903, with mail to Kaw effective October 15, 1902. The grocery store and Post Office operated by Gus Pellman, until he turned it over to the Bain brothers who had started a new Post Office across from his with forged papers. This is the only Post Office of Kay county that was stolen. This was abandoned when Kay City was opened up.


Schools once located in the township were Enterprises-74*, Foster-55, Maple Grove-54, Oak Grove-58*, Oak View-73, Pleasant Valley-85* and Pleasant View-16*.
