Jack LeRoy Yocam

Jack LeRoy Yocam, Ponca City resident, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2007, at Ponca City Medical Center. He was 94.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, in the chapel of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Griff Henderson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Newalla, officiating. Burial will follow at the Newkirk Cemetery in Newkirk.

Jack was born March 30, 1912, to Harrison H. Yocam and Edna G. Blood Yocam in Enid. Jack moved to Ponca City at an early age when his dad went to work for Marland Oil Company. He graduated Ponca City High School in 1930.

After high school he went to work for Jones Grocery Store in Ponca City until going to work for Continental Oil Company where he retired after 25 years of service.

On April 19, 1937, Jack married Alma Lee "Peggy" Howland in Pawnee, but they made their home in Ponca City. He enjoyed golf, reading and watching westerns, and taking care of his house and lawn. He loved to be around his family and friends especially being a part of his grandkids sporting events.

He is survived by one daughter, Judy Bowen and husband Doyle of Ponca City; one son, Jon Yocam and wife Karen of Ponca City; four grandchildren, Shari Henderson and husband Griff of Harrah, Doug Smith of Oklahoma City, Jason Yocam and wife Dena of Bartlesville, and Jeff Yocam of Branson, Mo.; and three great-grandchildren, Kirt Henderson, Clay Henderson and Ashlyn Yocam.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Bill Yocam of Pioneer, Calif.; and son-in-law, Francis Smith.

Casket bearers will be Doug Smith, Jason Yocam, Jeff Yocam, Kirt Henderson, Clay Henderson, Gary Lynes and Karl Lynes.
