Obituary
- John Nelson Wymer
John Nelson Wymer died of paralysis at the home of his son, J. W. Wymer,
in the Third ward last Saturday morning after an illness of about four
days, aged 78 years. He was born in Morgan county, Ohio, February 18,
1829, and was married to Miss C. E. Dillion in Lawrence county, Ohio,
October 22, 1848. Moved to Lebanon, Indiana in 1850 where he lived until
1865 when he moved to Grundy county, Mo. His wife died in August 1892.
Four years ago this month he came to Blackwell where he has resided since
with his son. He became a member of the Baptist Church when he was 21
years of age. He joined the Masonic lodge in 1860 at Lebanon, Ind., and
afterward transferred his membership to Trenton, Mo. and was a member
in good standing at the time of his death. He has two sons and two daughters
living, one daughter, Mrs. Rhule Peltzke, lives at Clear Lake, Iowa, and
the other Mrs. Electra Brooks, lives at St. Joseph, Mo. G. W. Wymer, a
son, lives at Trenton, Mo., the other son living in this city. He has
one sister living in Lawrence county, Ohio.
Mr. Wymer had suffered from paralysis twice previous to this; each one
affecting his throat and vocal organs. He had been a contractor and builder,
which profession he followed throughout his life. The funeral services
were conducted by Rev. J. S. Edmonds pastor at the Baptist church, Sunday
morning at 11 o’clock in the church, and the remains were buried
in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
