ZENNA WAGGONER WRIGHT

Zenna Waggoner Wright passed away at her home at Westminster Village on Jan. 2, 2005. She was 86.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at Albright United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sheila Combs-Francis presiding. Private internment will take place at IOOF Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
Zenna was born on March 24, 1918, near Mulhall in Logan County, the daughter of Ben and Clara Newman Waggoner. She attended Elkhorn and Midco schools, graduating from Billings High School in 1935. She then moved to Ponca City to attend Business College where she met Kenneth Wright. The couple was married on Feb. 27, 1938, and would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in February.
She was a member of the Albright United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and youth group sponsor for a number of years. In addition, she was active in the United Methodist Women's Missionary Group and was chairman of the annual bake sale and fall luncheon for a number of years. She was also a longtime volunteer at the Via Christi Regional Medical Center, working in the social services department.
Interests included crafts and ceramics which led to involvement with the 55 and Older Club where she was executive director for 10 years. She was also active in the Roosevelt Elementary School PTA as well as den mother in Bluebirds and Camp Fire Girls. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Society of Mayflower Descendants and the National Society of the Magna Carta Dames.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose greatest joy in life was creating a loving home for her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and dear friends, but she is now at peace and has gone on to a better place. Rest in peace, dear mother.
She is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Kenneth "Doc" Wright; sister, Claribel Deda of Pratt, Kan.; brother, Cecil Waggoner of San Francisco, Calif.; daughter, Judith Wright Clemmons and husband Alfred of Albuquerque, N.M.; son, Philip D. Wright and wife Diane of Wichita, Kan.; grandchildren, Kevin M. Petre of Ponca City, Gregory T. Petre of Albuquerque, N.M., Joel C. Wright of Wichita, Kan., and Lesley B. Levine and husband Josh of Hunnington, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Brittany Petre, Michael Petre and Dylan Stephens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Bernice Harmon and Cleta Bucholz; and four-year-old grandson, Jeffrey Hester.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Albright United Methodist Church, 128 South Palm, Ponca City, Okla. 74601.
