Floyd G. Wealand of
Ponca City died Saturday evening, May 2, 1992, at St. Joseph Regional
Medical Center. He was 79
Born June 20, 1912, east of Ponca City on the family farm, he was the
son of Allen and Alice Jean (Sutherland) Wealand. He attended Oak View
School and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1930.
On Feb. 9, 1934, he married Edith Klopp in Ponca City where they made
their home. In 1938, Wealand was employed by Northern Oklahoma Gas, (now
Oklahoma Natural Gas), and retired April 1, 1976, after 38 years of service.
Wealand had been secretary and was a past president of the Lion’s
Club and a past member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of
Northeast Baptist Church and enjoyed playing horseshoes, dominoes and
cards.
Survivors include his wife, Edith, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. John
(Ernestine) Copelin of Lexington, Neb. and Colleen Cherry of Oklahoma
City; two sisters, Betty Gwartney of Omaha, Neb. and Marjorey Phillips
of Ponca City; one brother, Howard Wealand of Cedar Point, Kan.; a half-sister,
Aline Rhodes of Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren; three great grandsons
and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents
and one brother Kenneth Wealand.
A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Wealand’s name with
the American Heart Association, c/o Security Bank and Trust, P.O. Box

The family will be at the Wealand home to receive friends and relatives
