RETIRED WORKER AT SMELTER IS
TAKEN BY DEATH
George Wallace, 84, resident of Blackwell since 1916, died at his home,
1115 East College at 9:30 pm Wednesday, following a short illness.
Mr Wallace was a retired smelter worker, and moved here from Collinsville
shortly after the city smelter was erected.
He was born at Newberry, England, Oct 19, 1857 and came to this country
when a young man.
Mr Wallace was a member of the United Brethren church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs Mabel Reed of Medford and Mrs Helen Barrows,Blackwell,
and one son, Harry of Blackwell.
Funeral service will be held at Roberts mortuary Friday, at 3:30 pm, with
Rev Charles W McGlawn, pastor of the United Brethren church officiating.
Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery
