IN
MEMORIAM
( Tribute to the Memory
of Wm. S. Voris deceased )
Whereas, we are again reminded that while we are in the midst of life
we are in the midst of death. Again has the messenger visited our Lodge
and Chapters and taken from our midst our beloved and honored Brother
and Companion, William Sickles Voris, who departed this life at his home
in Blackwell, Okla., April 16, 1907, in his 66th year.
His good deeds and kind actions are like an open book before us and are
living monuments of good citizenship and are very precious pages indeed,
and justly command the praise of his Companions, brothers and sisters.
To know him was to love him and those who knew him best loved him most.
He had a Masonic trust, a Masonic faith and a Masonic hope; the Holy Bible
was the rule and guide of his faith and the desire of his heart was rooted
in the foundation principles of eternal truth, and he fully recognized
the great fundamental truth that death does not end all, but is the way
to a fuller life in the immortality of the soul.
Therefore, to him the valley was not gloomy; the shadows were not dark,
and when his mortal feet gained the brink, the river was not wide, nor
deep., nor turbid , nor its waters cold. Leaving his brothers, sisters
and companions with sad hearts, he passed safely over and triumphantly
entered through the gate into the Eternal City to receive the commendation
of Him who said: “To eat of the hidden manna, and will give him
a white stone and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth
saying he that receiveth it.”
Resolved, That we extend our sincere sympathy to the bereaved once, and
that a copy of these resolutions be presented to the family and spread
upon the records of the Lodge and Chapter.
