Relative to the death of Rev. J.M. Via at McMinnville, Ore., Nov. 24, the Wellington (Kans.) Mail says: “Mr. and Mrs. Via left here about September 18 for Portland, but Mr. Via was taken sick and they stopped at McMinnville. His trouble was an abcess of the lungs with other complications Last Thursday. His son, Rev. John Via, pastor of the Baptist church at Oxford, was summoned by telegraph to his father’s bedside and started at once for Oregon. Mr. Via was an old residence of this county and has been preaching for years. He had the respect and confidence of every saint and sinner who knew him; he was a most excellent man. Six children, two sons and four daughters survive him.”
