DEATH OF MISS VANCE

A few minutes before ten o’clock on last Sabbath night Miss Harriet Vance died at the home of Mrs. Harmes in the third ward. She had been in feeble health for some time, but the end of life came suddenly and with little pain. About three o’clock in the afternoon her sister noted symptoms of a dissolution and summoned medical aid but to no avail. In the presence of a few of her most intimate friends she passed to her heavenly reward without a struggle.
Miss Vance came to this place in company with her sister Sarah about one year ago. In order to avoid the extreme heat of our summer she spent several months in Pueblo, Colo., returning to this place but a few weeks ago. Brief funeral services were held at the Harmes residence on Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. Jas. R. E. Craighead, after which Miss Sarah started with the body for Ottawa, Ill. Where interment took place on Wednesday afternoon. Miss Vance was born at Ottawa, July 28, 1874. Her father and mother died several years ago and the sisters have been making their home in Ottawa and in this place since that time. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and was earnest in service and devotion to her Master.
