Sad Accident

At about five o'clock yesterday afternoon, the eight year old son of J. M. VanWinkle, a prominent farmer living six miles northwest of town, fell under the wheels of a loaded wagon and was so badly crushed that he died a few minutes later. The boy had just came home from school and was playing about the place. He attempted to climb on a wagon loaded with 60 bushel of shelled corn, which was being driven to the granary when he missed his foothold and fell under the wheels. It is one of saddest accidents that ever happened in this locality, and the parents, who are among our best known and most highly respected people, have the sympathy of the entire community in the calamity that has befallen them.
The funeral was held from the home at 2:30 this afternoon -Ponca Courier, Thursday, Dec. 13.
