OBITUARY
Oliver Ticen Tripp
was born at Hoenden, Jackson county, Ohio, July 24, 1840; and died at
Halstead, Kansas, June 23, 1919, at the age of 78 years and 11 months.
At the age of 21 years he enlisted in Co. B, 18th Ohio Volunteer infantry,
serving three years and three months.
He was united in marriage to Eliza Jane Hanning, March 25, 1865. To this
union were born seven children: Mrs. Addie M. Powell of Hutchinson, Kansas;
Joseph W. Tripp of Blackwell, Okla.; John A. Tripp of Blackwell, Okla.;
Mrs. Olive E. Rowlands, of Wellington, Kansas; Mrs. Myrtle M. Allbaugh
of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Freddie A. Vannatti of Blackwell, Okla. All
of them, together with their mother, are left to mourn his departure.
Mr. Tripp moved with his family to Illinois in the spring of 1882, where
he lived until 1901, when he came to Kay county, Okla., where he has since
resided. Mr. Tripp was a kind and affectionate husband and father. He
was a member of the Masonic lodge of Blackwell, also a member of the G.
A. R., of which he was commander for a number of years, resigning at the
beginning of his last sickness. Services were held at the residence at
8 p.m., June 25, 1919, by the Rev. F. J. Stowe of the local Presbyterian
church. Interment at the I.O.O.F. cemetery, accompanied by the local post
G. A. R. And the Masonic lodge.
