Sad Accident to Child

Thursday evening a sad accident happened at the residence of Mr. And Mrs. Charles Tieman, about four miles north of town that may result in the death of their little daughter, aged about one and one-half years. Mrs. Tieman was doing some washing and had prepared a cup of concentrated lye which she set upon the table, and the little girl got hold of it and drank some before the mother was aware of what had happened. The parents immediately brought the child to town to a physician, but he was absent and they returned home after leaving word for the doctor to go out there. The doctor did as soon as he could and found the child’s mouth and throat badly burned and swollen. The child died on Sunday and the funeral occurred on Tuesday.
