Mrs. J. P. Sebits Dead

We were informed this week that Mrs. J. P. Sebits died Sunday at her home in Caldwell, Kans. Mrs. Sebits was well known in this community and had many friends. Mr. Sebits and children have the sympathy of all who knew them here. We were unable to get particulars of Mrs. Sebits death but her friends here were aware that she had been sick for some time.

Obituary

DIED – Monday, October 15th, 1900; Mrs. J. P. Sebits aged 33 years and 18 days.
Deceased was born near Lincoln, Ill., September 27, 1867. She moved with her parents, Mr. And Mrs. Geo. Scorth to LaBette county Kansas in 1868 and from there to Caldwell, Kansas, in 1884. In 1885 she was married to J. P. Sebits of this city. From this union three children were born, Marchie, Margarette and Geo. All of who are living.
In the last few years her health being poor, she has put in most of the time at various health resorts in Colorado, New Mexico and Texas. At the time of her father’s death she was on her way to San Antonio, Texas, but was called home by his death after which she remained here to take care of her mother until the death of the latter, which occurred last May.
They had planned another trip to the mountains, but were advised by the physicians that her health would not admit of her being moved from here.
She remained here until her death which occurred last Monday morning at 1:30 a.m. Her three sisters; Mrs. Magga Nix, of Alva, Okla., Mrs. Georgia Goudy of Chetopa, Kans., Mrs. Cora Cragin of Alva, Okla. And Mr. And Mrs. George Davis of this city were at her bedside at the time of her death. Mrs. C. D. Cole, Mrs. M. L. and Mrs. A. W. Sebits and Mrs. Capt. E. R. Rickey of Blackwell, Okla., were telegraphed for and came on the next train arriving in time to attend the funeral. She made all the arrangements for the funeral before her death, and everything was carried out as she had planned and requested. She was conscious and prepared for death when it came.
The funeral was preached at the house by Rev. J. A. Holmes of the M. E. church Tuesday at 3:00 p.m., after which the remains were laid to rest in the Caldwell cemetery. A very large concourse of friends followed the remains to their last resting place. Mr. Sebits has the sympathy of all in this their great loss.
