NEWKIRK — Henry Alexander Seals, Ponca City resident, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, in Ponca City. He was 73.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, in Miller-Stahl Funeral Chapel. The cremains will be interred in the Newkirk Cemetery at a later time. There will be no public viewing.

Henry Alexander Seals was born April 21, 1932, in Perkins, the son of Nolan A. and Grace P. Bateson Seals. He began his education in Perkins and, when he was 11 years of age, moved with his family to Arkansas City, Kan., where he completed his education. The family moved to Ponca City in 1945.

He worked at various jobs in Ponca City, Arkansas City and Wichita, Kan., mainly in used cars and used furniture.

On Oct. 13, 1951, he and Edna Mae Legg were married in Cherokee, and they lived in Arkansas City, moving to Wichita in 1964. He sold used cars for several firms, had his own business and established and operated the Auction Block in Newkirk. He also opened a used furniture and antique shop in Newkirk and in Ponca City.

He enjoyed cars of all kinds and auctions.

He is survived by one son, Kim Seals of Drury, Kan.; two daughters, Franceen E. Foster of Columbia, Mo., and Carol Fortier of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Edward Seals of Arkansas City; one sister, Wanda Cummings of Arkansas City; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 6, 1994; his parent; and two brothers, Joseph and Walter.
