Emilie B. Scott Emilie B. Scott, longtime Newkirk area resident, died Thursday afternoon, May 18, 2006, in the Ponca City Nursing and Rehab Center. She was 72. A private family burial will take place in Newkirk Cemetery. A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, May 22 at 2 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Newkirk with the Rev. Kerney Graham officiating. There will be no viewing. Miller-Stahl Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Emilie B. Scott was born April 28, 1934, in Johnstown, N.Y., the daughter of Jaroslav and Vera Prudky Mrazek. She lived in Johnstown for five years, moving with her family to Silverlake, Minn., in 1940. At the age of 15 she moved with her family to Newkirk where she graduated from Newkirk High School as valedictorian of the class of 1952. On Sept. 7, 1952, she and Phillip Dale Scott were married in Newkirk, where they lived their married life. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and had served as clerk of session from 1993 to 2005. She was a volunteer worker at the Newkirk library and with hospice. She enjoyed quilting and her grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Robert A. Scott, Curtis D. Scott and Gary W. Scott, all of Newkirk; one brother, George Mrazek of Boulder, Colo.; five grandchildren; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 15, 2006; one son, Donald G. Scott; her parents; an infant brother; and one sister, Ellie Makovsky. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to First Presbyterian Church and Friends of the Library, c/o Eastman National Bank, Box 468, Newkirk, Okla. 74647. |
