ROBERTSON- Nancy J. Quinn was born in Monmouth, Ill., May 6, 1839, and died in Steamboat Rock., Iowa. Oct. 18, 1908, she came to Arlington, Iowa, in 1856,and was married to Wm. R. Robertson Dec.10, 1863. They made their home in and near Steamboat Rock untill 1884, when they moved to Pratt, Kansas. In 1889 they returned to Steamboat Rock and again made their home until October, 1907, when they moved to Blackwell, Okla. She is survived by a husband, two sons, one daughter, four sisters, and a brother. Mrs. Robertson has been in poor health for some months, and a long sufferer from heart trouble. An attack of la grippe in march, of this year, so complicated her condition, that the only daughter, Mrs. Willard Caldwell of this city, was summoned to join the family at her bedside in Blackwell, Okla. Rallying from the attack, she came to Steamboat Rock for a visit and a rest, returning to her home in July. Her health failed rapidly in the southern climate and she again came to Steamboat Rock, trusting she could regain her strength. For a time she seem to be benefited and talked of returning to her home, but in defference to the wishes of the daughter and desire to recuperate, lingered here. Her death on Sunday morning was a very sudden termination of an active life and a great shock to the family, especially to the daughter, who was seriously ill at the time, and who has always been a devoted companion to an affecionate mother. Mrs. Roberton was a woman who endeared herself to all with whom she came in contact and her many friends will learn of her death with deep regret. Owing to the critical illness of her daughter, only brief services were held from the Dr. J. W. Caldwell home. The remains were laid to rest in the Steamboat Rock cemetery.-Steamboat Rock (Iowa) Pilot, Oct. 22. |
