Margo Gene Richardson Margo Gene Richardson, resident of Ponca City, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at her residence after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 59. The funeral will be held graveside 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003 at the Odd Fellows Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Weaver, pastor of Pioneer Christian Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home. Margo was born May 11, 1943, in Corvallis, Ore., to Bill and Betty Blodgett McCarty. She graduated from Ponca City High School in 1961. She graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1965 and received her masters in curriculum and instruction in July 1988. She was married July 3, 1965, in Ponca City to Charles Richardson. She was an elementary teacher for 26 years, retiring in 1998. She taught at Liberty, Jefferson and Roosevelt schools receiving Teacher of The Year for the 1993-1994 school year. Her hobbies included genealogy research, scrap booking, reading, spending time on computers and shopping. Most of all Margo loved being with her friends and family, especially her granddaughters. Margo was a very patient, caring and loving woman. She had a gentle spirit with a giving heart. She faced her illness with strength and courage. She never gave up hope. She attended the Pioneer Christian Church. She is survived by her father, Bill McCarty of Ponca City; two daughters, Alison Coates and her husband Spencer of Mulvane, Kan., and Stacy Richardson and her fiancé Shay Varnell of Oklahoma City; one son, Bill Richardson and his wife Jennifer of Ponca City; three granddaughters, Jessica, Halie and Morgan Gene Richardson, all of Ponca City; a fourth grandchild is expected in August to Bill and Jennifer; one sister, Ann McCarty of Ponca City; and her beloved pets. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles on Nov. 23, 2000, and her mother on Aug. 8, 2000. Memorial contributions
