Obituary Charles
Rhodes an enterprising farmer of Carlise Township, after a brief illness
of five days, died at his home March 31, 1899. Services were held at the
home, and the remains interred at the Blackwell cemetery. He was born
in the state of Ohio, Hardin country June 18, 1852; hence at his death
he was 46 years, 9 months 2 days of age. In 1877 he was married to Miss
Hannah Goodin, who after 22 years of wedded life is left to mourn his
seemingly untimely death, also the mother, one brother and three sisters
are yet among the living. Bro, Rhodes as a son was kind, and obedient,
devoted as a husband, and highly esteemed as a neighbor and citizen and
besides all, a man of God. Having been converted in 1872, at 20 years
of age, at that time united with the M. E. church and has been as we believe,
faithful to the end, -hence, shall receive the “crown of life.”
Mrs. Rhodes has the sympathies of the entire community in this her great
loss. –C.S. Burchfield, Pastor of M. E. Church.
