Died: - Mrs. Emma W. Phillips, wife of Mr. Joseph Phillips, on Blackwell avenue, died at her home at 6 o’clock a.m., Nov. 9, 1898. Mrs. Phillips had been suffering from sickness for four months previous to her death, and the decline was gradual but certain. She was born in North Carolina July 7, 1873 where she was married to Mr. Phillips. At the age of sixteen she connected with the Methodist Protestant church of Facadia, N. C., in which church she has held membership ever since. She leaves with her husband two children aged eight and six years. The funeral services were held in the M. E. church on Thursday morning at 10 o’clock, conducted by Rev. James Craighead.
Rev. James Craighead will preach in the sample rooms, one block west of the Blackwell Hotel, on Sabbath at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Morning theme: - “Receiving the Spirit.” Evening theme: - “Where art Thou?”
