Mr.
George R. Palmer who for the past two years has been active in the business
of this city died at his home on north Main Street on the morning of May
3rd 1900.
Mr. Palmer was born in Monroe County, Mo., June 7, 1857. He was the youngest
child of Geo. F. and Nancy E. Palmer and of their family he is survived
by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
On April 15, 1883 he was married to Miss Minnie Neely and shortly after
their marriage moved to Dakota and later returned to Missouri whence he
removed to Kansas where for eight years he conducted a livery business
in Belle Plain. A little over two years ago he came to Blackwell and engaged
in the same business here. In this business he was careful and conscientiously
industrious. During early fall this time Mr. Palmer suffered greatly from
stomach trouble, yet he kept persistently close to business. In his home
Mr. Palmer was kind and intensely affectionate. He leaves a wife and seven
children – six daughters and a little son.
The funeral services were conducted at the home on the afternoon of the
4th inst. And was largely attended by the friends of the family throughout
the town.
Mr. Palmer was a member of the Workman lodge and the local organization
was present and assisted in the services.
