Clara Edna O'Dell NEWKIRK — Clara Edna O'Dell, longtime Newkirk resident, died Monday morning, Jan. 2, 2006, in the Fairview Hospital in Fairview. She was 84. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Tramel officiating. Burial will follow in the Newkirk Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service. The body will lie in state Thursday until 9 p.m. and Friday until noon. Clara Edna O'Dell was born Jan. 26, 1921, in Wynona, the daughter of Dewey E. and Telena Bell Rowden Linville. She spent her younger years in the Barnsdall and Hominy areas where she attended several schools and finished her education in Newkirk at a finishing school. She married John Leonard O'Dell on Aug. 26, 1943, in Pawhuska, and they lived in Newkirk. She later moved to the Fairview Fellowship Home in Fairview. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newkirk and served in the church nursery. She enjoyed gardening and caring for children. Survivors include three sons, John O'Dell of Madisonville, Texas, Charles O'Dell of Soldotna, Alaska, and Bill O'Dell of Woodward; a daughter, Susie Harder of Fairview; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 16,1973; her parents; two brothers, Marvin and Clarence Linville; one sister, Lorene Allen; and a great-grandson. Casket bearers will be Kyle Bonham, Thad Schnell, Matt Harder, John O'Dell, Travis O'Dell and Nicholas Green. |
