Frank Nickolson was killed Tuesday afternoon. In a well on S. S. Clark's claim in the strip. The well had reached the depth of 40 feet, and Mr. Nicholson entered it while the air was still foul from a recent blast. He ordered his companions to pull him out, but became unconscious before reaching the top. The usual loop around with the help and tell he was within 10 feet of the surface, when it loosened and he fell to the bottom, fracturing his skull in a terrible manner. Ed McMillian, who entered the well to recover the body, was drawn up in an unconscious condition, and his life was saved with difficulty. Caldwell Journal |
