John Brady McGrew

John McGrew was born January 1, 1848 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio and departed this life at his home in Nardin, Oklahoma, August 5, 1928.

During his childhood Mr. McGrew moved with his parents first to Illinois and later to Iowa. On March 24, 1872 he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Wright in Appancose County, Iowa.

To this union were born eight children, five sons and three daughters. James William who was killed in a train accident when he was 19 years of age, John and Charles McGrew of Blackwell, Oscar McGrew of Eddy, Reuben McGrew of Nardin, Mrs. Blanch Cox and Mrs. J. B. McInturff of Nardin and Mrs. Omar Vandever of Braman. All the sons and daughters were present during their father's last illness.

Mrs. Elizabeth McGrew, her seven children, nineteen grandchildren, three brother and three sisters of Mr. McGrew and a host of other relatives and friends now mourn their loss.

Mr. McGrew was converted and joined the United Brethren Church in his youth. He and Mrs. McGrew were members of that church until they moved to this community and they became members of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Nardin. For nearly two years this good man was deprived of the privilege of the church worship by reason of the condition of his health. The funeral services were held in the Nardin Methodist Church Wednesday at 2 P.M. Rev. F. L. Templin was the officiating minister.
