D LOWRY
Iris D. Lowry, former
resident of Ponca City, died on Monday, July 14, 2003, in Arkansas City,
Kan., at the home of her daughter Sue and her husband Ernest Patrick,
where she had resided for the past three years. She was 91.
A graveside service will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery on Friday, July
18, at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Sheila Combs-Francis, Albright Methodist
Church, officiating. Services are under the direction of the Trout Funeral
Home.
Iris D. Alley was born in Washington County on March 28, 1912, the daughter
of Iva and Chalmer Alley. She received her early education in Bartlesville
and Blackwell and the University Preparatory School (NOC) in Tonkawa.
She married Burnie G. Lowry on Aug. 30, 1932. They were longtime members
of the Sunshine Beagle Club and the Ponca City Genealogy Society.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Ernest Patrick
of Arkansas City, Kan., and Janice and Ken Whinery of Norman; one son,
Jeff Lowry of Montgomery, Texas; ten grandchildren, Karen Young, Jon Patrick,
Paul Whinery, Sam Whinery, Tom Whinery, Kathy McDuffie, Sheryl Tate, Stephen
Lowry, Michael Lowry and Andrew Lowry; nine great-grandchildren, Jace
Patrick, Stephanie Whinery, Joshua Whinery, Michelle Whinery, Rachel Whinery,
Brandi Shedd, Tyler Tate, Jeré Tate and Madison McDuffie.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Scott Lowry; two brothers,
Dayton O. Alley and Reginald "Bus" Alley; a daughter-in-law,
Cynthia Lowry; and a great-grandchild, Tanner Tate.
