RAYMONA
MAE POTTS LeBARON
Raymona Mae Potts LeBaron, Ponca City resident, died Friday June 10, 2005,
at the Ponca City Nursing Home. She was 78.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday June 14, at Woodlands Christian
Church with the Rev. Paul Krueger, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow
in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Trout Funeral Home.
Raymona Mae Potts LeBaron, the first of four children, was born Jan. 4,
1927, in Ponca City to Ray Potts and Thelma Paris Potts. She lived here
all her life.
Raymona was baptized into Christ in her youth and was an active member
of First Christian Church while growing up.
She attended Roosevelt Elementary, East Junior High, and graduated from
Ponca City High School with the class of 1945.
Raymona took a job with Continental Oil Company in pipeline accounting.
It was through her association with Continental that she met her future
husband, Lloyd LeBaron. They were married June 21, 1948, at the First
Christian Church.
Lloyd and Raymona joined Woodlands Christian Church in 1958 where Raymona
served for many years as a Sunday school teacher, member of the choir,
member of the board, and finally as church secretary, retiring in 1990.
Raymona had a great love for Ponca City. She took pride in the fact that
her mother and father were friends of E.W. Marland and of Will Rogers.
She was active in her community over the years by participating in many
civic activities. A few of these include establishment of Ponca City Helpline
(with good friend Joan Mason), Ponca City Welcome Wagon, Relay for Life,
Crop Walk, Daughters of the American Revolution, Ponca City Garden Club,
PTL (Lutheran Elementary), PTA (Roosevelt Elementary), Cub Scout den leader,
Blue Bird and Campfire leader.
Lloyd and Raymona enjoyed playing bridge with family friends, pitching
horseshoes as members of the Oklahoma Horseshoe Pitchers Association and
bowling, where they belonged to various leagues. They also enjoyed long
walks around Lake Ponca.
Raymona had a great love for genealogy research. She was able to learn
a lot about family history and to correspond with family members from
all over the United States.
Raymona entered Ponca City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center May 29, 2003,
following a stroke. She lived there — visited daily by her husband
Lloyd and daughter Darla — until her death June 10, 2005, at the
age of 78 years, five months and six days. She was preceded in death by
her parents.
Raymona leaves to remember her, her husband Lloyd, of the home; one son
and his wife, Jerold and Mellanie LeBaron and their children Keith, Philip,
Brian and Rachel of Newkirk; one daughter and her husband, Darla and Richard
Jones and their children, Robert "Robbie" Jones, and Darla's
son and his wife, Nathan and Cammie Caudill and their infant daughter
Natalie, and Darla's daughter and her husband, Nicole Caudill and Ritchie
Golay and their children Cole and Korie, all of Ponca City; a sister and
her husband, Lela and Ralph Freeman of Iliff, Colo.; a brother and his
wife, Johnny and Phyllis Potts of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Adagia DiGaia
(formerly Helen Potts) of Newkirk; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
