JR Latta is dead. That was the theme of conversation here on the streets last Friday. Upon investigation, it was found to be true that he had died at his home in Wellington on the preceding Wednesday. Many learn this with regret as Mr. Latta owned a claim, just west of town and would have soon made his home here with us. Mr. Latta was a man of money and an enviable reputation as an honest, honorable and upright businessman.

It is with a feeling of deep sorrow that we inform our readers of the sudden death, at Wellington, of our friend, JR Latta. He made the run and successfully staked a claim 2 miles west of town. He was rapidly improving his land and expected to soon move to it, when the death touched him with his icy finger, and what a moment before had been life, and such a happy useful life, was naught but cold clay. Warm hearted, public spirited, loved by his associates, esteemed by all, truly he was one of God's noblemen. He is gone, but we have faith to believe he will live again surrounded by his loved ones in that glorious kingdom where Christ will reign. And all will be peace and harmony
