Mary Edna Krenn

Newkirk — Mary Edna Krenn, 95, longtime Newkirk resident, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, in the Newkirk Nursing Center.

A graveside service has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2006, in the Newkirk Cemetery with Danny W. Cornish, retired minister of the Newkirk Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service. The casket will be open to the public at the graveside only.

Mary Edna Krenn was born June 13, 1911, in St. Clara, W.Va., the daughter of William C. and Mary C. (Krenn) Woofter. Her mother died when she was 13, and when she completed her education she stayed at home and helped care for her brothers and sister.

On Nov. 11, 1942, she and Henry William Krenn were married at Catlettsburg, Ky. They established their first home near St. Clara, moving to Kildare in 1946. She was a homemaker and helped with the farming and cattle operation. Mr. Krenn died Dec. 14, 1980. She remained on the farm until 1989 when she moved to Ponca City. In 1997 she moved to Newkirk where she has since resided. She has been a resident of the Nursing Center since 2001.

Mrs. Krenn grew up in the Lutheran faith. She enjoyed working in her yard and gardens. She also enjoyed cooking for her grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Stephen Krenn of Newkirk; three grandchildren, a step-granddaughter, and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joseph Woofter and Alfred Woofter; and one sister, Ina Woofter.
