Elston Kenneth Kahle BLACKWELL — Elston Kenneth Kahle, resident of Newkirk, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at his home west of Newkirk. He was 83. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, in the chapel of Roberts and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Nigh, pastor of Northeast Baptist Church in Ponca City, officiating. Burial will follow in Newkirk Cemetery. Elston Kenneth Kahle was born Jan. 9, 1924, in Newkirk, the son of Herman Frederick and Dora Greenhagen Kahle. He grew up in Newkirk, attending rural school northwest of Newkirk before attending Newkirk public schools, graduating Newkirk High School. Following his education, he worked in Wellington, Kan., in the aircraft industry during World War II. He married Lois Irene Simpson on Dec. 31, 1942, in Anthony, Kan., and they settled on a farm west of Newkirk, where he farmed for 60 years before retiring in 2003. He enjoyed farming as both work and a hobby. He also enjoyed working with cattle and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Lois Irene Kahle of Newkirk; three sons, Dennis Kahle and wife Marscha of Blackwell, Monty Kahle and wife Nancy of Newkirk, and Curtis Kahle and wife Candace of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Amy Hafele and husband John of Fort Worth, Texas, Jennifer Lambert and husband Heath of Blackwell, Crystal Ramsey and husband Aaron of Ponca City, Lindsay Kahle of Dallas, Texas, Meagan Kahle of Oklahoma City, Monica Kelly and husband Ross of Bentonville, Ark., Lacy Haugan and husband Keith of Minneapolis, Minn., Eric Kahle and wife Dawn of Newkirk; great-grandchildren, Kahle, Megan, Alex, Taylor, Cole, Austin, John Wyatt, Audrey, Lauren, Victoria, Jeremiah and Riley; nephews, Danny Harader and wife Rosemary of Ponca City, Ken Harader and wife Becky and Gary Kahle and wife Freida, all of Arkansas City, Kan., and Duane Kahle and wife Bonnie of Wilmington, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marvin Kahle; and a sister, Lucille Harader. Casket bearers will be Michael Harader, Scott Harader, Philip Harader, Scott Hensley, Patrick Hensley, Steve Downing, Larry Layton and Duane Gray. Honorary bearers will be Ted Chapman, Melvin Kahle, Marius Kahle, Victor Kahle and John Hockman. Memorial contributions
