Edna Fay Johnson Edna Fay Johnson, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at her home. She was 82. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 2, in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Dr. Michael Seabaugh, presiding. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Fay was born Aug. 23, 1923, in Coke County, Texas, the daughter of Eddie H. Hogan and Mary Elizabeth Hodges Hogan. She attended grade school and high school at Tennyson and San Angelo, Texas. She did her undergraduate work at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, and received her master's degree from the University of Texas in Austin. She taught mathematics at Howard Payne University in Brownwood and computer sciences at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa. She began working at Conoco in 1955, retiring in 1984 as a systems analyst. She was united in marriage to L.C. "Red" Johnson on Aug. 23, 1945, in San Angelo, Texas. The couple had been married 55 years at the time of his death in 2000. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ponca City where she had taught Sunday school for many years. She loved oil painting, playing golf, bridge, working with genealogy and her most recent challenge was playing Sudoku. She is survived by her three sons, Robert E. Johnson and wife Fern of Guthrie, William L. Johnson of Anchorage, Alaska, and John M. Johnson of Ponca City; several nieces and nephews that include, James Prosise and wife Suzanne of Brownwood, Texas, Brent Prosise and wife Charl, of Trophy Club, Texas, and Paige Prosise Zrubek and husband Craig of Round Rock, Texas; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; longtime friends, Sue Williams and family; and her loving companion, Lilly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, L.C. "Red" Johnson on Sept. 7, 2000; two brothers, Edgar Talley and Edward Hogan; one sister, Emma B. Prosise; and one half sister, Gertrude Kaizer. Casket bearers will be Jerry Purkaple, Aaron Johnson, Brent Prosise, Red Williams, Randy Williams and Greg Williams. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 218 South Sixth Street, Ponca City, Okla. 74601.
