Lymon L Irons

Lymon L Irons, 205 East Hazel Street, died Thursday, May 5, 1994, at St Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was 79.
The funeral will be held at 2pm Monday in the Trout Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Ponca City IOOF Cemetery.
Lymon L Irons was born in Galesburg, Ill., the son of OL and Ethel (Hall) Irons. At age two, he moved with his family to Ponca City and was raised by his step-father, Earl Pruitt. As a child, Irons helped take care of the camel herd on the 101 Ranch. He attended Ponca City schools and graduated from Ponca city High School, where he excelled in sports.
On April 9, 1938, he was married to Lena Mae Spear in Arkansas City, Kan. That same year Irons was employed by Cities Service Oil Co. Over the years he also worked for Sequoia Oil and the Conoco Refinery, retiring in 1975 after 37 years of service. Irons was a member of Grace Episccopal Church. He enjoyed sports, gardening, traveling, working on novelty chairs and visiting with friends.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Mae, of the home; one daughter, Angele Fitzgerald of Ponca City; one sister, Ilean Larkins of Ponca City; four brothers, Alvin Pruitt of Ponca City, Roy Irons of Delaware, Okla, Bill Irons of Big Cabin and Jack Irons of Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather, four brothers and three sisters.
Casket bearers will be Danny Pruitt, Michael Pruitt, Marion Irons, Rick Larkins, Don Irons and Bill Hindes. Honorary casket bearers will be Kent LeMaster, George Estes, T Y Whitlow, Gene Pickens, Jerry Pickens, Frank Walker, Marvin Selvey, Wayne VanHoozier and Don Richardson.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Mr Irons’ name to the Ponca City Humane Society, P O Box 2311, Ponca City, OK 74601.
The family will be at 518 South Fourth Street, Monday
