Dollie Stout Harrell NEWKIRK — Dollie Stout Harrell, longtime Newkirk resident, died Thursday evening, Oct. 27, 2005, in the Linwood Village Nursing Home in Cushing. She was 82. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31 in Newkirk Cemetery with Danny W. Cornish, minister of the Newkirk Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service of Newkirk. Dollie Lavinia Stout was born Dec. 6, 1922, in Blackwell, the daughter of Joel Edward and Bessie Levinia Hummel Stout. She grew up in the Peckham, Blackwell and Braman area and attended Banner rural school. Following her education she was employed as a waitress and worked in that capacity and as a cook in Ponca City for a number of years. In 1946 she married Johnny Koehn, and they made their home in Ponca City. She continued working in the restaurant business. She married Richard Eugene Harrell on Dec. 12, 1967, in Nowata. They established their home in Ponca City, moving to Newkirk in 1969. At that time she retired from working outside the home. Mr. Harrell died Oct. 23, 1998, and she remained in Newkirk until June of this year when she moved to Linwood Village. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers and her flower gardens. She was always ready to go for a ride or go sightseeing. She had a special fondness for animals, and she was especially interested in her grandchildren and what was happening in their lives. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Nightengale of Bentley, Kan.; two sisters, Blanche Pontius of Blackwell and Emma Lee Collinsworth of Wichita; two grandchildren; five great-granddaughters; and one great-great-grandson. In addition to her
husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings,
Laverne Kline, Alva Stout and Elsie Stark. |
