DEATH OF MRS. HARNEY

Mrs. J. J. Harney died at the family residence in this city Sunday, Dec 20, after an illness of many months. During her last illness she had the loving care of her husband and three daughters and the close attention of capable physicians, but the end came in spite of their love and ministrations. The funeral was from the Christian church, Monday afternoon and was attended by a large crowd of sorrowing friends. The teachers of the public school were present out of respect to their associates Miss Florence Harney and Mrs. Getter, both daughters of the deceased, as were a number of the scholars of Miss Harney. The sermon was preached by Rev. Z. A. Harris, and it and the music as well was beautiful and impressive Mrs. Harney while a sufferer for years maintained as far as possible her position in the home and church and was a devoted wife and mother and a devout and consistent Christian. Her beautiful life was a source of help and encouragement, not only to the family, but to all who knew her, and she will be most sadly missed in the home and by the acquaintances.

To this union was born five children, four of whom with the husband survive to mourn her death, and to bless and revere her memory, namely Mrs. Chas. Humphries, Mrs. G.M. Getter, Miss Florence Harney all of Blackwell and Mr. T. Ed. Harney, of Trinidad, Colorado. Mr. And Mrs. Harney came to Butler county Kansas early in the history of that county and lived there until 1900, when they moved to this city, and it has been their home since that time. Mrs. Harney early accepted the Savior and her life has been in his keeping since that decision.
