OBITUARY

Orval, little son of Howard and Jennie Hamblet who died at the home of Rev. J. P. Bixler, Nov. 22nd, was buried in Griswold cemetery Friday Nov. 25th. Funeral services conducted by Evangelist S. J. Miner from the Bixler home. Friends assembled with the family to express their sympathy for the grief stricken mother, and as far as possible bear the burden that fell with such heavy weight upon her heart. This burden was increased from the fact that Mr. Hamblet who was, and is even yet, out with a hunting party in Oklahoma and could not be reached with either wire or post, hence was not with his baby boy during the three days of his illness, not yet at the funeral. Membranous croup did its work thoroughly and speedily, breaking into the home circle and taking from it the “light of the home” – the baby. The busy little feet and hands, the busy little tongue, the busy body, so fondly loved and so sorely missed in the home, has been transplanted to developed in the fields of light above. God left the dear little fellow to be loved and cared for, for two year, 10 months and 16 days – just as long as he could do without him in Heaven – then He took him to a better home than father and mother could give. He said a short time before he died, “I not going home wis yo mamma, I am going to Jesus.” – Augusta Journal
