Ola Iva Haase

NEWKIRK — Ola Iva Haase, former Newkirk resident, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, in Ponca City Nursing Home. She was 94.

The funeral has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in Christ's Church of Newkirk with the Rev. Steve Harshman officiating. Burial will follow in Newkirk Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ola Iva Haase was born Feb. 5, 1912, in Hinton, the daughter of Joseph and Laura Powell Sparks. In 1923 she moved to Arkansas City, Kan., and finished her education there.

She married John Victor Haase Aug. 20, 1930, in Winfield, Kan., and they lived in Arkansas City until 1947 when they moved to their farm northeast of Newkirk. They retired in 1973, and in 1989 they sold their farm and moved into Newkirk. In April 1999 she moved to Ponca City Nursing and Rehabilitation.

She was an active member of Christ's Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and fishing.

She is survived by several nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 21, 1991; her son, John V. Haase Jr. in 1988; her parents; and her five siblings.
