Marcella M Galbraith,
retired Ponca City school teacher, died Wednesday, Oct 19, 1994, at Westminster
Village after a lengthy illness. She was 83.
The funeral will be held at 11am, Saturday in the Ponca City First Presbyterian
CFhurch, with the Rev. Dr. Monty Fey, pastor, officiating. Burial will
be in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Trout Funeral
Home.
Marcella M (Myers) Galbraith was born Dec 19, 1910 in Salt Lake City,
the daughter of Arthur E and Carrie Alice Edwards Myers. She graduated
from Muskogee High School and attended Muskogee Junior College, Northeastern
State Teachers College and the University of Missouri. She earned her
BA in English from Oklahoma A&M, which is now Oklahoma State University.
She was the widow of Donald S Galbraith and taught English and Spanish
at the Ponca City High School for several years. Mrs. Galbraith was an
active member of Ponca City First Presbyterian Church, where she had served
as teacher and elder and as president of the Cimmarron Presbyterian. She
enjoyed music and was past-president of the Ponca City Music Club and
was active in the Ponca City Mother's Club, Lilac Garden Club, Pioneer
Genealogical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the American
Association of Retired Persons. Mrs. Galbraith and her husband were founders
of the Ponca City Free Tax Aide Program for senior citizens.
Mrs. Galbraith is survived by five children, Charles Galbraith of McKinney,
Texas, Norma Davenport of Houston, Rob Galbraith of Ponca City, Douglas
Galbraith of St Louis, Mo., and David Galbraith of Houston; one sister,
Norma Hooker of Weatherford, Texas; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at 20 Hillcrest.
