Obituary
It becomes are sad duty to chronicle the death of Comrade Gabriel. A good
man has gone from among us, one whose bright smile and glad greeting always
impressed you with the fact that you were in the presence of a soul devoted
to the grand work of making others happy, for in all things he was a grand
man, living a pure and honest life and using all possible effort to persuade
others to discard selfishness and live in strict accordance with the golden
rule.
Trangott Gabriel was born at Prestran Germany, November 8, 1846, died,
December 9, 1902, aged 56 years 1month 1 day. Comrade Gabriel was married
to Miss Anna Getts at Lawrence, Kansas, Nov. 6, 1869, ten children were
born to them, nine girls and one boy, of whom four girls and the boy are
still living; Mrs. Bertha Cohler, of Colorado Springs, Miss Sarah, Miss
Doris and littel Pearl. The son Robert resides at Kansas City and is employed
as a traveling salesman for a wholesale hardware firm of that city.
Mr. Gabriel passed away without suffering, apparently falling asleep.
He had worked the day before his death at the shop, and was speaking of
how well he was feeling; but alas, the next morning before he had risen
the machinery of life had run down and he had died from heart failure,
before the family were aware of his taking away. Peace to hi soul! The
trials and troubles of this life which he had met so bravely and cheerfully,
are now over with him forever, but his work for the uplifting of mankind
will long live to bless his memory. He was a kind and loving husband,
and indulgent father and a good citizen. The SOCIALIST extends its sincere
sympathy to the sorrowing and grief stricken family in this affliction
and bereavement over their irreparable loss.
