GRANDMA FOSTER DEAD

Mrs. G. M. Foster died at the family residence in this city, Sunday morning, Nov 29. Mrs. Foster had been ailing for a number of years and for the past year has been confined to the house for the greater part of the time. The best of care from the members of the family, physicians and nurses was accorded her, but she just gradually faded away. Mrs. Foster while frail in body was a woman of much energy mentally and physically and her inability to be up and doing for her family and the Master, was her chiefest regret during her declining years. She was an admirable woman and until physically unable, was active in family and church affairs, and was a good friend and neighbor. The funeral was held from the United Brethren church, Wednesday morning at 9:30 o’clock, the sermon being by Rev. C.E. Heisel of Enid, the presiding elder of the district, and a personal friend of Mr. And Mrs. Foster. The music was by a quartette from the Presbyterian church choir with Mrs. F.E. Martin as accompanist and was mainly songs selected by Mrs. Foster for the occasion. The sermon was a beautiful tribute to the life, death and hope of the Christian and was a consoling message to the bereaved ones. Many beautiful floral emblems were sent by friends, and a goodly number attended the funeral and burial services. The loss falls most heavily upon the aged husband, and to him as well as the other members of the family, is the sympathy of the community extended. The following short obituary has been furnished by a friend.
Mrs. Sarah Jane Foster (nee Russell) was born near Lebanon, Ohio, Oct 7 1838, and died at her home in Blackwell, Okla., Nov 29, 1908, having come to the full limit of man’s allotted time, her age being 70 years, 1 month and 22 days. She was married to G. M. Foster Oct 28, 1856, and lived with him in happy union until the day of her death. To this union were born eight children, six boys and two girls, three of whom preceded their mother to the better world, in infancy. Of those still living, Amos Milton and George Willard reside in Blackwell; Charles Madison at Twin Falls, Idaho, Sankey Joshua at Grangeville, Idaho, and Mrs. Alde J. Lawson at Chase, Indiana. Mrs. Foster was a devoted, faithful Christian for more than fifty years. She was converted at the age of fourteen and soon after united with the United Brethren church, of which church she was a consistent member to the day of her death. Grandma Foster, as she has been known for years, was loved by all who knew her. Hers was a life of faith and hope. She died in the triumph of a Christian. Before she became too enfeebled she made all preparation for her funeral having selected the text of scripture for the address and the songs to be sung.
