Evans Funeral Tuesday
Mrs Sylvia Bell Evans, 119 North Fourth, died at her home Saturday afternoon.
She was 80. The funeral is set for 2:30 Tuesday in Memory Chapel of Hamilton-Porter
Funeral Home. Grandsons Tony Ebert, Mark Evans, Terry Evans, Chris Ward,
Ron Evans and Dan [Don] Evans will be casketbearers. Rev Daniel Kennedy
pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene will officiate for the service.
Burial is to be in Braman cemetery. Mrs Evans was born Feb 24, 1904 near
Cleveland to the late Charles and Nance Shepherd. She grew up at Cleveland
and received her early education there. She moved to Blackwell-Braman
community from Shidler in 1942 with her husband and children and was a
dietician at the Riverside Osteopathic Hospital in Blackwell until retiring
in 1965 when the hospital closed. Two husbands preceded her in death.
Mrs. Evans was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She is survived
by four sons, Don Evans, Enid and Homer Evans, Leon Evans, Robert Evans,
All of Blackwell; Five daughters, Dorothy Grube, Wilma Ward and Gracie
Roberts, all of Blackwell; Gladys Henry of Enid and Margaret Scudder of
Waskom, TX; 26 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren
and one sister, Mrs Clarence Youtsey of Artesia, NM
