Drowned

Word was phoned into town yesterday a little after twelve that Jesse Eminhiser had just been drowned in the pond near Levi Opdylke’s barn. In a short time a crowd was gathered about the pond, which is a mile from town, and a number of men stripped and proceeded to search for the boy, and about one o’clock Court Grubbs found the body. As the little fellow had been in the water about an hour when found all efforts at revival were fruitless, and the accidental tragedy was complete.
This is a profoundly shocking occurrence, and one which falls with crushing force upon his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Eminhiser, who live about five miles north of Billings. It appears that Jesse, who is about seven years of age, was visiting at the home of D. C. Frazier, and he and Mr. Frazier’s boy and a son, of Mr. Paden had gone over to the Opdylke pond for a fish and a swim. Going into the water, which in places is over a mans head, Jesse ventured beyond his depth and was drowned. His companions gave the alarm, but when help arrived it was to late.
