EDNA EBERT
Edna Alice Ebert died
at her daughter’s home in Conroe, Texas, Thursday, Oct 22, at 2:15pm.
She was 92.
Services are scheduled for 1pm Monday, Oct 26, in the First Baptist Church.
Rev. Kenneth Romines will officiate. Burial will be in the Blackwell IOOF
Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ebert was born April 16, 1900 in Oakley, Kan., to Doravin and Margaret
(Boroff) Compton.
She moved with her parents to Nardin, living there until she was 10, when
they moved into Blackwell. She attended Blackwell Schools, graduating
in 1918.
She married Martin Hammond Ebert in 1918 in Newkirk and they settled in
Blackwell, where she lived while her husband served in the US Army during
World War I.
After his discharge, they moved to Tonkawa to live for a few years prior
to returning to Blackwell. Her husband preceded her in death, Feb 9, 1946.
She was active in the First Baptist Church where she was Cradle Roll director
for many years. She moved to Conroe to be near her daughter in 1988. She
was member of the Rebekah Lodge of Blackwell.
Survivors include three daughter, Deneina Miller of Conroe; Gwendolyn
Robert and Dauphine Ryan, both of Wichita; two sons, Dorvin Ebert of Kansas
City, Kans, and Joseph Ebert of Blackwell; 28 grand children and 56 great-grandchildren.
In addition to he husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Merle
Compton, one sister, Daisy Compton, and one daughter, Cherry Bourne.
