Isaac
Diemer
The body of Isaac
Diemer, a long time resident of this county who died at the home of his
son, Ruel Diemer, in Canon City, Colorado, arrived here on Saturday evening
of last week over the Santa Fe. The remains were taken to the undertaking
rooms of French & Hitchcock and from there at 9 o’clock Sunday
morning to Prairie Lawn cemetery, where they were laid to rest beside
the grave of his wife, the committal service being pronounced by Rev.
D. H. Swizer of the Methodist church.
The deceased was born January 23, 1827, in western Pennsylvania. He came
to this county from near Freeport, Illinois, in 1878 and settled on a
farm which he purchased three and one half miles east of the city. There
he lived until a few years ago when advancing years compelled him to give
up farm work. He has been making his home with his son Ruel at Canon City
for the past year and prior to that for a year or so at Garden City, Kansas.
Death was due to the encroaching infirmities of old age.
Mr. Diemer’s wife died eighteen years ago. He is survived by two
sons, O.E. Diemer, of Blackwell, and Ruel of Canon City, and by one daughter,
Miss Susan Diemer. A brother, H.W. Diemer, is living near Belle Plaine.
The deceased had a wide acquaintance among the pioneer settlers of the
county and as a man and citizen was held in high esteem. - Wellington
