ALICE CUNNINGHAM
Minnie Alice Cunningham,
formerly of 1712 North Seventh, died Friday evening at the Ponca City
Nursing Home. She was 86.
Mrs. Cunningham had resided at Shawn Manor Nursing Home for the past four
years, and was transferred to the Ponca City Nursing Home in late September
from St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Born July 4, 1900, in Tennessee, she was the daughter of L.A. and Betty
Cooper and received her education in the Tennessee schools.
She married Arley H. Cunningham on May 6, 1915k, in Joplin, Mo. The couple
moved to Ponca City in 1919 and made their first home at 819 East Broadway.
They later lived south of town and raised chickens on their property.
Mrs. Cunningham worked as an elevator operator for Security Bank and Trust,
retiring in April of 1972 after 40 years of service.
She was a member of the Albright United Methodist Church; and was a charter
member of the Builders Class for 52 years. Her hobbies were gardening
and raising tropical fish; she was also very active as a foster parents.
Survivors include a daughter, Maxcene Duroy, of 1712 North Seventh; two
sons, Donald Eugene, of Ponca City, and Ervin Leroy of Ogden, Utah; six
grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Cunningham was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 14, 1972;
a daughter, per parents, three brothers, and one sister.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Albright United Methodist Church
with the Rev. George Isbell, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in
the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial
Chapel.
Casketbearers will be Tom Glaser, Steve Horlick, David Cunningham, John
Glaser, Sonny Taylor, and Bronson Taylor.
The family will be at 1712 North Seventh.
