Funeral Friday for
Longtime Area Resident
Arley H. Cunningham
died Friday at the Ponca City Hospital. He was preceded in death by his
mother, father, two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Albright United Methodist
Church with the Rev. J. Noble Atkins officiating
Cunningham was born Feb. 6, 1893, at Cabool, MO., a son of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Cunningham. He received his education at Cabool, later moving to
Joplin, Mo., where he worked in the coal mines and also farmed.
He moved to Ponca City in 1915 and was employed by Marland Oil Company,
taking early retirement from Continental Oil Company March 17, 1956. He
was employed in the transportation department.
Cunningham married Minnie Cooper May 6, 1915, at Newkirk and they made
their first home in Ponca City. He was a member of the Albright United
Methodist Church, Men’s Bible Class and the American Legion, He
served with the armed forces in 1918-1919.
Survivors are his wife, Minnie, of the home on Route 4; two sons, Donald
Eugene of the home and Ervin Leroy of Ogden, Utah; one daughter, Mrs.
Maxcene Duroy, 1712 North Seventh; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
