Donald R. Corbin
(October 25, 1926 - June 23, 2010)
Donald R. Corbin, resident of Ponca City, passed away Saturday, June 19,
2010, at Ponca City Medical Center. He was 83.
The service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the
Trout Funeral Home & Crematory with Reverend Randy Ratliff, officiating.
Burial will then follow at Longwood Cemetery in Ponca City, OK. Arrangements
are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Donald was born on, October 25, 1926 to Rowe Hampson Corbin and Goldie
Mae Gleason in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Don attended grade School in Morris,
OK, later moving to Shamrock, OK in 1942, where he graduated from high
school. After high school he joined the United States Navy and served
during WWII. After he was discharged in 1946, he married Cecil Mae Corbin
on May 15, 1946 in Shamrock, Oklahoma. He worked as District Manager for
Southwestern Bell Telephone Company retiring in 1984.
Don’s hobbies included flying and anthropology. He was also active
in the Jay Cee’s, Civil Defense and the Ponca City Airport Advisory
Board. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife Cecil Mae Corbin of the home; two daughters:
Sue Sturgeon and her husband Robert of Caney, KS, and Sandy Hawthorne
of Sand Springs, OK.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Zane Corbin
Casketbearers will be Robert Sturgeon, Leonard Hawthorne, Vernal Sturgeon,
Cody Collier, Devin Collier, and Keith Schultz.
