Robert Louis Coleman NEWKIRK — Robert Louis "Bob" Coleman, former resident of Newkirk, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at his Tulsa home. He was 80. A graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, in Newkirk Cemetery with the Rev. Diana Hartman officiating. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m. in the College Hill Presbyterian Church in Tulsa with the Rev. Hartman officiating. Moore's Rosewood Chapel of Tulsa is in charge of arrangements, and Miller-Stahl Funeral Service is in charge of local arrangements. Robert Louis Coleman was born Dec. 23, 1926, at home in Newkirk, the son of John Hoffman Coleman and Gertrude Louis Coleman. He grew up and attended school in Newkirk, and graduated from Newkirk High School in June 1944. He joined the Air Corps Enlisted Reserve at the University of Arkansas for training. He was drafted into the U.S. Navy in August 1945 and discharged 11 months later. He enrolled at Wichita University and graduated with a degree in business administration. He was employed with Conoco and the Internal Revenue Service before again being inducted into the U.S. Navy to serve during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1952. He married Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Shinn Dec. 14, 1952, in Newkirk and, shortly thereafter, moved to Tulsa. He was employed for Chapman/Barnard/McFarlind, Leta M. Chapman, their estates, and Rogers and Bell Law Firm until retirement. He was a longtime member and treasurer of College Hill Presbyterian Church and was involved in many community activities and charities. Survivors include his wife; his son, Louis Coleman of Tulsa; daughter Mary Cassen of Wills Point, Texas; four grandchildren; one sister, Mary Frances Jones of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, John Hoffman Coleman of Spartanburg, S.C.; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions
