GROVER
CLEVELAND DEAD
Grover Cleveland,
former president of United States, died at Princeton, J. J., Wednesday
morning at 8:40 o’clock, of heart failure.
While his death was expected by the people, yet it came with a blow, for
he has given much to the nation by his pen and by both his public and
private life. He was ejected president in 1884 and re-elected in 1892,
serving two full terms. He was born March 18, 1837, being 71 years, 3
months and 7 days old at his death. He was the son of Rev. Richard F.
Cleveland, was always a Jefferson democrat, in 1859 he was admitted to
the bar as a lawyer, in 1863 was appointed assistant district attorney,
in 1870 elected sheriff, in 1881 was elected mayor of Buffalo, in 1882
was elected governor of New York. During his first term he was married
to Miss Francis Folsom.
