Mary Belle Clark

STROUD — Mary Bell Clark, former resident of Ponca City, died Thursday, July 13, 2006. She was 89.

The funeral was scheduled for Tuesday, July 18, in the chapel of Parks Brothers Funeral Services in Stroud with the Rev. Kevin Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Gibson National Cemetery.

Mary Belle Clark was born April 9, 1917, in Gatlin, Okla., the daughter of Edward John and Edna Fern Bates Stitch. She married Cosby Edward Clark in Duncan on June 15, 1940.

She was a pastor's wife for 20 years, taught Sunday school for 50 years, piano teacher, English teacher and Laubach Literacy teacher. She was also a home health care provider and surgery nurse. She was one of the "Five Who Care" for KOTV channel 5 in 1995 for her volunteer work.

She enjoyed singing gospel, traveling and reading.

Survivors include a son, Cosby Edward Clark Jr. of Stroud; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 21, 1989; her parents; three brothers; and one sister.
