BLACKWELL — Kathryn Irene Cassidy, resident of Blackwell, died Sunday,
Aug. 23, 2009, in Blackwell Regional Hospital. She was 83.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29. in Braman
Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Koch of First Christian Church officiating.
Kathryn Irene Cassidy was born Nov. 13, 1925, in Blackwell, the daughter
of August Frank and Letha Morrison Huhn. She grew up in Blackwell and
graduated from Blackwell High School in 1943. She attended Northern Oklahoma
Junior College in Tonkawa.
She married James Hugh Cassidy on Nov. 12, 1944, in Blackwell. In 1945
they moved to Pittsburg, Kan., returned to Blackwell and together owned
and operated Cassidy Refrigeration Service for more than 40 years.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Blackwell. She enjoyed traveling
and genealogy study.
Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Kay Simon of Blackwell; her son,
Dr. Danny J. Cassidy of Tonkawa; her sister, Viola Tremble of Tulsa; four
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2005; her parents; and a brother,
Lawrence Huhn.
